Home cooking at its best!! The local media go to this judge all the time for info yet ignored this story. Will the local media explain why MAJOR news outlets thought this was worthwhile yet the local media simply protected the rear-end of the judge by keeping it as quiet as possible?

Who is totally against an equal joint custody bill that starts and ends with treating each fit parent equal regarding their relationship with their child unless a parent is found unfit by clear and convincing evidence? By the way, EQUALITY is the law.

Who is violating the separation of powers between the Judicial Branch and the Legislative Branch by contacting the legislators telling them the SB196 bill is a bad bill but provides no positive solution to improve the lives of our children in family court? He also claims that the Alabama Canons (Code of Ethics for Judges) allows him to engage in law making. Would anyone believe that an Alabama set of guidelines for judges is actually meaningful in it's existence? I don't think so. Alabama lawyers and judges also once helped in the lynching of blacks even though it was against the law. The judges take money from lawyers who then come before them in court and declare that to not be a conflict of interest.  There are NO RULES in Alabama for judges. Simply ask the Judicial Inquiry Commission on how many judges they have punished throughout the history of time. Their statistics (lack of prosecution and punishment toward judges) would lead you to believe that judges are 99.9% moral and correct in all their ways. The judges and lawyers really do believe you have 'stupid' carved into your forehead.

Who is concerned that his discretion (POWER) to tell you how to run your life and raise your children will be taken away if a law is passed to treat each fit parent equal?

Who actually grants true equal custody when HE feels like treating you equal?

Who actually states findings of facts in a case when HE feels like it?

Who has admitted that he is sick and tired of being a judge, that it is a crappy job, that he is tired of everyone hating him, that he can make more money going back to private practice and that he is not running for re-election?

William "Billy" Bell is a lawyer by trade and currently a judge in the 23rd Circuit Court in Madison County, Alabama (cities of Huntsville & Madison area). Billy Bell has handled the majority of domestic relations (DIVORCE & CUSTODY) cases in Madison County for the past several years until recent changes in which the divorce & custody cases are now being handled more by all of the judges in this court. Billy Bell most recently was THE PRESIDING judge over the 23rd circuit court for the last few years until Judge Karen Hall became the current presiding judge over the 23rd circuit court in Madison County (Huntsville), Alabama.

Judge Bell and his fellow lawyers and judges won't like you posting comments about them or their peers that reflect negatively so realize they can and will punish you if they can identify you. I am living proof of this yet I refuse to stop telling the truth about my experience with our Alabama family court system & the judges and lawyers who run it.

Alabama citizens have lost all confidence in the Alabama family court system and want it completely overhauled to protect both parents and children equally.

Lawyers in Huntsville, Alabama (Madison County) that disagree with Judge Billy Bell or the other judges realize the judges can destroy their career. Judge Bell and many others have no problem punishing those who don't play along with their way of running the court rooms and the system they have made money and a very good living for a long time as well as playing god with the power bestowed them by the voters.

You may THINK you have freedom of speech protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution but you ONLY have it if judges like Billy Bell extend it to you. If they choose to take if from you then you don't have it. Judge Kevin Grimes from Cherokee/Dekalb County/Fort Payne/Centre area has broken his OATH of OFFICE and has ruled in a way that violates my Freedom of Speech.

UPDATE: Judge Kevin Grimes lost his 2010 re-election bid after serving for 11 years. He lost to a newcomer Jeremy Taylor. RARELY does a current judge who has served nearly 12 years lose. Good riddance!

I will not reveal any email addresses nor any of your personal information to anyone but I ask that you remain civil in your language and comments. Please keep your comments to the treatment you feel you received from Judge Billy Bell, good, bad, equal or unequal.

I suggest saying prayers for the judges like Billy Bell who have lost their moral compass in more ways than one when taking a child's fit parent from their lives.

The judges along with other elected officials or others on taxpayer payrolls have forgotten that THEY work FOR US. Not us for them. It is also unfortunate that the majority of American citizens have forgotten this as well. The judges and elected officials take full advantage of our laziness of not holding them accountable.

For many decades now the current way the judges like Billy Bell deal with child custody
is nothing short of STATE SPONSORED CHILD ABUSE at its worst. It violates BOTH the child's civil rights and the fit parent whose rights to their children are taken away without being found unfit. A child needs each of their two fit parents.

When a child has a fit parent removed from their life it increases significantly the chances the child will endure emotional, physical or sexual abuse, drop out of school, create unwed pregnancies, engage in criminal activity, go to jail or prison, higher unemployment, relying on tax-payer funded welfare programs and the ultimate abuse if the child's life is taken as a result of a fit parent and loved one being alienated from the child's life by the court rulings like Judge Billy Bell issue each day. Statistics and research have proven the current way of issuing custody is a failed policy.

Ask the judges or lawyers who even decided this setup (1st and 3rd weekend/standard visitation) was best for the kids and they can't give you an answer. Why? Because the judges do not know. Because there is zero research to support the 'standard visitation' of being successful for children and parents. The judges only mindset is "This is just how we do it and that's all I know". How's that for sensibility from these highly educated folks?? The research has proven that the way Alabama judges are handling custody is State Sponsored Child Abuse.

Today's leaders - Alabama legislators, judges and lawyers - are of the same cloth that once treated blacks as lesser human beings because "That's just how we do it here in Alabama". It took Alabama leaders decades to finally give in to treating blacks equal as whites. Old Jim Crow was hard to get rid of in Alabama!! Even after the Civil Rights Act was passed by Congress.

Today's leaders - Alabama legislators, judges and lawyers - are of the same cloth that once prevented women from voting because "That's just how we do it here in Alabama". It took Alabama leaders 33 years to allow women to vote after the 19th Amendment was passed by Congress.

Today's leaders - Alabama legislators, judges and lawyers - are of the same cloth that once locked away and warehoused the mentally ill or physically handicapped. Go back to Alabama leaders fighting against a Federal Court Order forcing Alabama to treat the mentally and physical handicap with humane treatment. See Wyatt v. Stickney 1970. It took Alabama 33 years to finally get our from under a Federal Mandate to treat mentally and physical handicap with humane treatment.

Those methods were wrong when they existed and fortunately enough people fought for their rights and overcame this idiotic mindset.

Alabama school systems like Huntsville are still under a Federal Court desegregation order from 33 years ago because Alabama cannot be trusted to treat people equally.

Children need & deserve each fit parent and extended family to give them the most love and support to succeed in life.

When one parent is given full custody and control it sets in place the child being denied their right to their other fit parent and extended family, being denied access, visitation and a real relationship with their flesh and blood.

If you are a NON-CUSTODIAL PARENT then you have no rights to your child.
Read your court order and the standard parenting guidelines very closely and understand what each part truly means.
The parent with physical custody (Custodial Parent) has the final say in all matters.

Billy Bell is a lawyer and will do all he can to continue to promote the survival of his trade for those to come after him as those before did for him. While working as a lawyer Billy Bell helped raise campaign donations for Loyd "Buddy" Little, Jr. to become a judge and ultimately lead to the injustice to my son and family (see WhyJudgeLittle.com). You can't get more "good old boy network" than when the lawyers provide money to the judges they work in front of each day in the court room. Ethical? Not even close. Yet it's standard operating procedure in the court rooms throughout Alabama.

When the judges, from Chuck Malone down to Billy Bell, begin respecting and honoring their oath to uphold and protect the U.S. Constitution and the Alabama State Constitution which is to follow the simple concept that ALL people are created equal (this includes the children as the constitution is not respective to any age minimum or maximum) and begin treating all fit parents and children rights equal in the taxpayer court rooms, then and only then will this epidemic of child abuse by removing one or both fit parents from a child's life come to an end.

Rarely do those who make the rules have to live by them.
